Welcome
The themes in Shelley Jund’s art are enigmatic, spiritual and at times whimsical. She relies on beauty and aesthetics to create works with a tranquil fluidity and often, an air of melancholy. Shelley’s artwork is inspired by the natural world and a fantasy world rooted in another time and place. There is an obvious bent towards plants, animals and landscape and there is usually a feeling of other-worldliness. The solitary female figure that is often present is a nod to self-portraiture but has a universal appeal as one who is enjoying a quiet, contemplative moment with nature. The combined result of these elements creates images that are mysterious, serene and dream-like.
Shelley is an Idaho native and has lived much of her adult life in Boise, Idaho. She attended Boise State University and graduated in 1998 with a Bachelors of Fine Art in Illustration. Shelley enjoys working in a variety of mediums but primarily works in charcoal, metal-leaf and acrylic. She finds charcoal in particular, to be a very sensual media which lends a velvety, dreamy quality to her drawings.
